• Odisha- between Mahanadi and Godavari valleys.
• Madhya Pradesh (90.18%) >Andhra Pradesh (5.72%) > Chhattisgarh (4.09%).

• Considered as the highest-grade coal.
• It is extremely soft.
• It can split into layers.
• It is highly resistant to heat.
• It is highly unreactive.
• It is the only non-metal that can conduct electricity.

• As anode in battery.
• Used by  lithium-ion battery
• in brake linings for heavier vehicles
• As substitute for asbestos.
• Modern pencil lead is a mix of powdered graphite and clay.
