WHAT ARE FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES?

  • All of them are the Fundamental Duties of Indian Citizens
  • The Fundamental Duties are defined as the moral obligations of all citizens to help promote a spirit of patriotism and to uphold the unity of India

 

LIST OF FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

FACTS ABOUT FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

  1. These was borrowed from USSR Constitution.
  2. They are not justiciable i.e. Unlike Fundamental Rights, you cannot go to court for the enforcement of Fundamental Duties.
  3. No legal sanction can be enforced by the government in case of their violation
  4. They apply only to citizens and do not extend to foreigners.
  5. They were added in the Constitution by 42nd Constitutional amendment, 1976.

IMPORTANCE OF FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

  1. Serve as warning against anti-national and anti-social activities.
  2. Promote sense of discipline and commitment among the citizens.
  3. They lead the citizens on the right direction to bring excellence in all spheres
  4. They help courts in examining the constitutional validity of a law.

 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES:
